Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Lot, Zero Margin
Three trailer spots is all you get. If two trucks with trailers are already there, you're either squeezing in creatively or turning around. Get there before 8 AM on weekends or don't bother with a trailer.
Traffic Bottleneck
One lane serving kayakers, canoes, and powerboats all at once — by 9 AM on a decent day you'll already have a lineup forming. The mix of paddle craft and trailers at a single-lane ramp creates a real logjam. Midweek mornings are your best bet.
Spring Flooding Is Real
The Grand pushes over its banks here in spring and this launch goes underwater. Don't even attempt it during high water — the ramp disappears and the access road can get sketchy. Usually clears up by late May depending on the year.
Better For Small Craft
This spot honestly works best for kayaks and jon boats. If you're running anything over 16 feet, the tight approach and limited maneuvering room make it a headache. Think of it as a quick-drop spot, not a proper marina launch.
Quiet When It's Quiet
Catch it on a calm weekday morning and it's a genuinely peaceful little spot on the Grand — great bird activity during spring and fall migrations. Just know the vibe flips completely once weekend recreational traffic picks up.
