Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Steep But Short
The ramp grade is noticeably steep — steeper than most around Kent County. That said, it's a short run to the water so most vehicles handle it fine. Just don't try it with a worn-out transmission or bald tires in the rain.
Parking Crunch
Only 5 trailer spots, and that fills fast on summer weekends. If you're pulling in after 9am on a Saturday, you may be out of luck. No real overflow option nearby, so plan accordingly or launch early.
Kayak Launch Gone
There used to be a separate kayak launch a couple hundred feet from the main ramp, but it washed out — trees and debris took it down around summer 2023. Now kayakers share the boat ramp with trailers, which gets awkward when it's busy.
Shallow At The Dock
The dock sits in pretty shallow water, so it's not much help for loading or tying off anything with real draft. Works fine for a jon boat or jet ski, but if you're running something bigger, you'll want to manage from the ramp itself.
Trashy Shoreline
The banks along this stretch are rough — heavy litter and debris, some of the worst I've seen on the Grand. The launch itself functions, but the surrounding area doesn't inspire confidence. Keep an eye on your gear.
