Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Sand Ramp, No Dock
The ramp is sand and gravel — flat and gradual, which is nice for smaller boats and kayaks, but there's no dock. Loading and unloading solo can be a pain, especially if there's any wind pushing you off the ramp. Plan on getting your feet wet.
Surprisingly Deep
Don't let the small size fool you — this lake is deep, which makes it tricky for fishing but great for scuba types and trolling. DNR stocks trout fingerlings annually, so you'll see guys trolling lines around sunset pretty much every evening in summer. Largemouth, smallies, pike, crappie, and panfish are all in here too.
Weekday Ghost Town
With only 10 trailer spots you'd think parking would be tight, but this lake is tucked away in Leelanau County and doesn't draw big crowds. Weekdays you might have the entire lake to yourself. Even weekends stay manageable — it's just not on most people's radar.
Solid Ice Fishing Spot
The depth and trout stocking make this a legit winter destination. Good hard-water fishing if you're willing to find the right depth. Access holds up fine in winter, and the flat parking area handles the snow well enough.
Passport Required
You need a Michigan Recreation Passport to park here. Easy to forget since it feels like a quiet backroad launch in the middle of nowhere, but they do check. The lot itself is large for a lake this size — way more room than you'd expect from a one-lane sand ramp.
