Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tight Quarters
Only 5 trailer spots and a cramped turnaround area. If you're pulling anything longer than 18 feet, you'll be doing a multi-point turn to get lined up. The boulders lining the drive don't help — they're close enough to clip a fender if you're not paying attention.
Hull Scraper
The 1-inch planks on the ramp and generally shallow approach mean deeper-V hulls are going to drag. If you run an MXZ or anything with a low-riding hull, expect to scrape. This side is really better suited for kayaks, PWCs, and small aluminum fishing boats.
Use The West Side
There's a second launch on the west side of the causeway that handles bigger boats better. It's unpaved and has a steep hill, but it's more maintained and has a dock. If you're bringing anything substantial, head over there instead — the east side is the lightweight option.
Morning Window
Fish early. By midday the lake gets busy with recreational boat traffic, and even on a Monday the ramp area can be packed. Get on the water by 7 AM and you'll have a much better experience both at the launch and out on Murray Lake.
