Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Remote & Primitive
This is deep Keweenaw backcountry. The launch is bare-bones — one lane, eight trailer spots, and that's about it. You're not bringing a big walleye rig here; this is canoe, kayak, and small aluminum territory.
Trail Access Bonus
The surrounding property has a trail network with bluff views and a natural spring worth finding, but the trails are rough and poorly maintained with lots of blowdowns. Easy to lose your bearings if you wander off from the ribbons tied to trees.
Rarely Crowded
Eight spots sounds tight, but I've never seen more than a couple vehicles here. Keweenaw keeps the casual crowd away, and most tourists stick to Fort Wilkins or Brockway Mountain. You'll likely have the lake to yourself.
Muddy When Wet
The access area gets sloppy after rain, and up here that's half the summer. If you're pulling a trailer, even a small one, be mindful of soft ground near the ramp. Four-wheel drive isn't a bad idea.
