Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tight But Tidy
Single lane with only 7 trailer spots, so this fills fast if even a handful of people show up on a summer Saturday. Get there early or plan a weekday trip — once those spots are gone, you're improvising on the shoulder.
Small Lake Feel
Harper Lake is a compact all-sports lake near Irons, so you'll share water with jet skis and pontoons on weekends. Crystal clear water looks gorgeous but means fish can see you coming. Pike and panfish are in there, but don't expect fast action — it fishes slow compared to other Lake County options.
Ramp In Good Shape
The DNR keeps this launch reasonably well maintained for a small rural site. Ramp grade is manageable and the surface holds up fine for mid-size boats. Nothing fancy, but nothing broken either — just don't try squeezing anything over 20 feet through here.
Kayakers Love It
If you're putting in a kayak or canoe, this is one of the easier spots in the area. Calm water, no current to fight, and you can explore the whole shoreline in a couple hours. Just be aware you'll be sharing with motorized traffic on warm weekends.
