Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Trailer Ramp
This is a carry-in only site — kayaks, canoes, and inflatables. There's no paved ramp and no trailer parking, so don't show up expecting to back a boat in. Sandy bottom makes wading the launch area easy, though.
Rough Road In
The gravel road getting here is seriously washboarded. Take it slow or your gear (and your fillings) will pay the price. The entrance road also continues through the site to private property, so don't accidentally drive past the access.
Salmon Run Madness
During the fall salmon run, this place goes from peaceful to absolute zoo. I've seen 100+ people packed in here on peak weekends. If you want elbow room, hit it midweek or very early morning. Labor Day through mid-October is the crush.
Snags Under The Bridge
Fish the holes on the north side of the bridge, but know there are several submerged snags directly below the bridge that'll eat your tackle. The shallow flats upstream hold fish too, especially around the full moon.
Kayak Float To Scottville
Great put-in for a float trip down to Scottville — plan about 4-5 hours if you're taking it easy. The river winds like crazy, so a GPS or phone map helps keep you oriented. Eagles are thick along this stretch, easily 8-10 visible on a good day.
