Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Not A Ramp
Weavers is a carry-down access only — no ramp, no trailer parking. You're sliding a canoe or kayak down the bank into the Pere Marquette. If you're hauling a drift boat, look at one of the other launch sites upstream or downstream.
Drift Boat Country
This stretch of the PM is prime fly fishing water, and most traffic is guided drift boats. If you're paddling through, expect to navigate around anchored boats, especially during the fall salmon run and spring steelhead season. Weekdays are noticeably calmer.
Seasonal River Levels
Spring snowmelt can push the PM up fast and make the banks at Weavers slick and muddy. By midsummer the river settles down and access is easier, but the banks stay soft. Wear boots you don't care about — you'll sink a few inches stepping down to the water.
Finding The Spot
Signage along this corridor isn't great. Weavers is easy to blow past if you're not watching for it. Look for the small DNR marker off the road — don't rely on GPS alone, as it tends to drop you slightly off target in this area.
