Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tight Squeeze
The DNR isn't kidding about narrow — if you're running anything wider than a 16-footer, you'll be white-knuckling the back-in. Branches and brush crowd both sides of the approach, so fold your mirrors in.
Basically No Parking
Four trailer spots is all you get. Show up on a Saturday morning and find two trucks already there, and you're basically done. This is a weekday-morning kind of launch if you want zero hassle.
Trash Problem
Being a game area launch with no real amenities, litter piles up fast, especially around the water's edge. No trash cans, no porta-john — pack it in, pack it out, and don't expect anything else.
Small Lake, Small Boats
Grassy Lake is a quiet little Lenawee County pothole lake — perfect for a canoe, kayak, or a jon boat with a small motor. Don't bother dragging a bass boat out here; the lake doesn't warrant it and the launch can't handle it.
Game Area Roads
The access road through Onsted State Game Area is unpaved and can get rutted out after spring rains. Low-clearance vehicles and long trailers will bottom out if you're not careful picking your line through the worst spots.
