Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Narrow Drive In
The road to the ramp winds through a tight lakeside residential street with cabins on both sides. Some spots barely fit a truck and trailer, and there are a couple of steep hills that can challenge smaller tow vehicles. Take it slow and don't expect oncoming traffic to yield.
Parking Fills Fast
Only 24 trailer spots and they go quick on holiday weekends and summer Saturdays. Once it's full, there's really nowhere to overflow — no shoulder, no secondary lot. Get there early or plan for a weekday trip.
Use The Right Side
Two lanes on a solid concrete pad with no washout issues, but the dock setup matters. Bigger V-hull boats should load and unload on the north (right) side facing the water. The south side gets mucky and shallow — you'll be pushing off bottom.
Quieter Alternative Nearby
Sand Lake is noticeably less crowded than the other Lenawee County lakes like Wampler's or Devils. Trade-off is the fishing is just okay — this is more of a skiing and cruising lake. If you want serious bass or panfish action, Wampler's is the better bet and has more parking. But if you want a peaceful day on the water, this is the spot.
Sandbar Heads Up
There's a sandbar out in the middle of the lake that people gather on in summer. Fun if you're hanging out, but keep an eye on your depth if you're running across the lake at speed. It sneaks up on you.
