Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow Lake Overall
Most of Wamplers is pretty shallow — if you're fishing, the real action is around two deeper holes in the 25-30 foot range. Easy to run aground elsewhere if you're not paying attention, especially mid to late summer when levels drop.
Weekend Zoo
Saturdays and Sundays from late June through August are chaotic. Boats going every direction, jet skis cutting lines — it's a free-for-all. If you're fishing, go early on a weekday or you'll spend more time dodging traffic than casting.
Parking Is No Problem
84 trailer spots across four lanes means you're almost never waiting to launch, even on holiday weekends. That's the real advantage of this spot — the infrastructure handles the crowd, even if the lake itself feels packed.
Hayes State Park Entry
This is inside Hayes State Park, so you'll need a Recreation Passport on your plate or you're paying the day-use fee at the gate. Easy to forget if you're just popping in for a quick launch — they will stop you.
