Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Deep Water Ramp
The ramp drops off nicely — you won't be fighting shallow water here like at some of the other Big Manistique launches. Even mid-summer when levels dip, you can get a decent-sized boat in without scraping.
Cooks Bay Location
This puts you right into Cooks Bay on the north end of Big Manistique Lake. Good staging area if you're heading out for walleye or perch — you're not fighting a long run across open water to get to productive spots.
Parking Is Generous
Fifteen trailer spots for a single-lane ramp is solid. Unless you show up on a holiday weekend mid-morning, you'll find a spot. This isn't one of those launches where guys are parking in the grass by 8 AM.
Single Lane Patience
One lane means you're taking turns during any kind of traffic. Weekend mornings in July can stack up a few rigs, so either get there early or plan on a short wait. Weekdays you'll basically have the place to yourself.
Remote But Worth It
It's out there — county roads through the woods to get here, and signage isn't the best. First time in, pay attention at the turns or you'll blow right past it. Once you know the route though, it's a quieter alternative to the launches on the south end of the lake.
