Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Deep & Clean
The ramp drops off nicely — you won't be grinding your trailer on a shallow shelf like some of the other Manistique Lake launches. Even mid-summer when levels dip, you can get a 20-footer in without drama.
Parking Is Fine
Ten trailer spots and one lane sounds tight, but this isn't a high-traffic launch. Weekday mornings you'll often have the place to yourself. Weekends during walleye season it can fill by 8 AM, but that's about the only time you'll feel the squeeze.
Cooks Bay Access
Puts you right into Cooks Bay on the north end of Big Manistique Lake. Great if you're working the weedlines on that side, and it saves you a long run across open water compared to launching from the south shore.
Single Lane Reality
One lane means if someone ahead of you is fumbling with their trailer, you're just waiting. Not usually a problem given the low traffic, but on opener weekends or holiday Saturdays, be patient or get there early.
