Culhane Lake State Forest Campground Boat Launch

You're looking at 11 miles of washboard dirt road to get here. Go slow — it's not the kind of approach you want to rush with a loaded trailer. Navigation can be tricky too, so stick to numbered roads and don't trust shortcuts.

The single-lane ramp just past the campground turn-in is in surprisingly good shape for how remote this place is. Fine for small to mid-size boats — you're on a quiet inland lake, not hauling a big walleye rig out here. Back in carefully since there's no real defined turnaround area.

There are maybe 4 trailer spots, but "spots" is generous — it's basically undefined gravel and grass. On a busy summer weekend you might have to get creative, but honestly this place rarely sees enough traffic to cause a problem.

Zero cell service, no crowds, no artificial light. The lake gets almost no boat traffic — mid-September I've seen nobody else on the water at all. If you want action and amenities, go somewhere else. If you want to disappear for a few days, this is it.

The mosquitoes and black flies out here in June and July are relentless. You're deep in the UP woods next to standing water — come prepared or you'll be miserable by sundown.
