Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Rough Road In
The access road is long and bumpy — take it slow, especially with a trailer. It's not terrible, but if you're pulling a big rig you'll feel every pothole. Give yourself extra time getting in and out.
Small Ramp, Tight Quarters
Single lane launch with only 10 trailer spots. It works fine for small boats and kayaks, but don't try to bring anything over 18 feet. Maneuvering space is limited, and there's no real overflow parking if the lot fills.
Mosquitoes Are Legendary
This is a flooding — basically a wide, swampy stretch of the Tahquamenon. The mosquitoes here are absolutely brutal, especially early summer. Head nets and heavy DEET aren't optional, they're survival gear.
Swampy But Fishy
The Dollarville Flooding is shallow, weedy, and looks like a swamp, but that's what makes it productive. Pike and bass hang in the vegetation. Keep an eye on your prop depth — it's easy to hit bottom if you stray from the main channel.
No Readable Rules Signs
The posted site rules are sun-faded to the point of being unreadable. Worth knowing: this is rustic state forest land, so pack out your trash and don't expect any amenities beyond a vault toilet. Bears are active in the area — secure your coolers.
