Tiny Lot, Plan Ahead
Five trailer spots is all you get, and during peak camping season (July–August) the lot fills by mid-morning. If you're not staying in the campground, get there early or you may be circling. There's no real overflow option nearby.
Single Lane Bottleneck
One lane means you're waiting if someone ahead of you is fumbling with their trailer. On weekdays it's a non-issue, but holiday weekends with a full campground can create a backup. Keep your rig small — this isn't the place to launch a 22-footer.
Skip The Back Roads
Do not try to shortcut in on the unmarked two-tracks around the park. They're deep sand and poorly labeled. Stick to the main route in even if it feels like the long way. I've seen cars buried to the axles out there.
No Cell Service
You lose all phone signal well before you reach the park. Download your maps and have your plan sorted before you head in. If you rely on Google Maps through your truck, you'll be driving blind the last stretch.
Small Lake, Quiet Water
Muskallonge is only about 780 acres — intimate water that's great for fishing and small boats. Lake Superior is literally across the road but there's no launch for it here. The lake itself is calm and sheltered, a nice change from the big water.
