Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Deep Water Ramp
The ramp drops off nicely — you won't be dragging hull on the bottom here, even in late summer when some of the other Big Manistique launches get sketchy shallow. Back in clean and you're floating fast.
Parking Deception
Only 5 marked trailer spots, but there's more room than the number suggests. That said, on a Saturday morning in July you could still get squeezed out if a couple groups with big rigs show up. Weekday mornings you'll have the place to yourself.
One Lane Patience
Single lane means you're taking turns. Not usually an issue since this launch doesn't see heavy traffic, but if you roll up behind someone who's struggling, you're just waiting. Keep that in mind on opener weekends.
Quiet Alternative
This is the spot when you want to skip the circus at the south end launches. Puts you right into Cooks Bay with quick access to the northern half of Big Manistique — great for walleye and perch without fighting boat traffic from the busier ramps.
