Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Ten Bucks to Launch
There's a $10 launch fee here, which stings a little for a small inland lake. If you're just paddling, save the cash and head south to Grebe Park where there's a free kayak launch — though it's a few hundred feet of portaging from the parking lot to the water.
Rarely a Wait
Two lanes and 17 trailer spots sounds tight, but this place just doesn't get hammered. You can roll up on a Saturday morning and get in and out without sitting in a line. It's a low-stress launch.
Kayak Alternative Quirks
Grebe Park's kayak ramp works fine at normal levels, but when the water's up it gets tricky on the takeout — the ramp design doesn't account for high water well. You might end up just beaching it on shore and hauling out the hard way.
Marina Restroom Access
No standalone restroom at the ramp itself, but the adjacent marina has one you can use. Handy if you're rigging up or waiting on your buddy to back the trailer down.
