Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Mucky Bottom
The lake bottom near the ramp is soft and silty — you'll feel it if you're wading to guide the trailer. Shoes you don't mind getting muddy are a must, and lighter boats do better here since you don't want to power through the muck.
Small Water, Small Ramp
One lane, seven trailer spots — this is a small backcountry lake, not a destination launch. Perfect for a 14-footer or a canoe, but don't show up with a big bass boat expecting a smooth experience.
True U.P. Solitude
This is the kind of lake where you might not see another soul all day. Weekends barely register as busy. If you want quiet water and decent fishing without fighting for ramp time, Engman's delivers.
Old-School Infrastructure
This launch has been around since the 1950s and it shows. Don't expect modern amenities — just a basic put-in on a pretty lake. Check the ramp surface before backing down, especially early in the season when debris and sediment pile up from snowmelt.
