Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Brutal Access Road
The road in is absolutely punished with potholes — we're talking hundreds of them. Take it slow, especially if you're towing. It'll rattle your trailer to pieces if you don't.
Tiny Lot, Plan Accordingly
Five trailer spots is all you get. On a weekend morning you might find it full with just a couple other rigs. If you're heading up, get there early or have a backup plan — there's no overflow area to speak of.
Ramp Is Basic
Single lane, gravel surface. The DNR can't grade it beyond adding more gravel due to archaeological restrictions, so don't expect it to improve much. It handles small boats and canoes fine, but I wouldn't try muscling anything over 16 feet down there.
Oddly Good Cell Signal
For being out in Marquette County, you can actually get cell service at the lake — a rarity for these remote Upper Peninsula launches. Railroad tracks run nearby too, so don't be surprised by a train rolling through while you're rigging up.
