Harlow Lake Boat Launch

The National Guard regraded and graveled the ramp in late 2023, so it's in better shape than it's been in years. That said, it's still gravel — not concrete — so take it slow backing down, especially if you're on the heavier side of what your tow vehicle can handle.

Eight trailer spots fill up fast if even a few trucks show up on a summer Saturday. This is really a kayak-and-small-boat lake. Anything over 16 feet and you're going to feel silly out there.

Heavy weed growth along the banks, especially mid-summer onward. Shore fishing spots are limited and get crowded quickly. If you're in a kayak or canoe, you'll paddle through a fair amount of vegetation near the launch before hitting open water.

When the panfish are on, they're ON. Bluegill stacked up and aggressive — great spot to bring kids for nonstop action. Don't expect trophy bass; come here for a peaceful limit of gills and a quiet afternoon.

Harlow Lake sits in the middle of a popular mountain biking and hiking trail network, so the small parking area gets used by bikers and hikers too — not just boaters. On weekends the lot can be full of cars with bike racks and zero trailers. Get there early or plan for a weekday trip.
