Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny But Functional
Two trailer spots and a single lane — this is a put-in for small boats, canoes, and kayaks, not your 20-foot walleye rig. If someone's already on the ramp, you're just waiting in the road.
Duck Hunter Central
This spot gets real busy during waterfowl season, especially opening weekend. Duck hunters will claim those two spots before dawn, so if you're paddling in October, plan on arriving at first light or find somewhere to tuck your vehicle off to the side.
North Country Trail Access
The North Country Trail cuts right through here, so don't be surprised to see hikers and birders milling around the parking area. It's a shared space — just something to be aware of when you're maneuvering a trailer in tight quarters.
Clear Water Gem
The river mouth is surprisingly clear and clean — great for a paddle upstream or even just wading around. It's one of those quiet Upper Peninsula spots that doesn't feel picked over. The surrounding area is gorgeous and worth lingering.
Winter Double Life
In winter this area becomes a snowmobile corridor, so the access road gets packed trail traffic. Don't expect to launch anything once things freeze up, but it's worth knowing the site stays active year-round in different ways.
