Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny & Remote
This is a small, no-frills launch on a quiet Upper Peninsula lake. With just one lane and three trailer spots, it's really best suited for canoes, kayaks, and small johnboats — don't try to muscle anything big in here.
Solitude Guaranteed
Sporley Lake barely registers on most people's radar, even locals. You can show up on a Saturday in July and have the whole lake to yourself. That's the main draw.
Rough Road In
Getting here means navigating some minimally maintained forest roads in Marquette County. A truck or SUV handles it fine, but low-clearance vehicles towing trailers will feel every rut and pothole. Know your route before you head out — signage is sparse to nonexistent.
Shallow Near Ramp
Water depth right at the launch can be iffy, especially by late summer. If you're trailering even a small boat, hop out and check the drop-off before you back in. It silts up and you don't want to get stuck.
