Crowding A small, well-used neighborhood launch across from Waterside Resort. The gravel lot is limited and gets potholed, so it can fill on summer weekends.
Plan B — if this lot is full Big boats and pontoons that can't clear the Lakeshore Drive bridge to the main lake should launch at the Ludington State Park ramp instead.

Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
The Bridge Is the Catch
You launch into the bayou, and getting to the main lake means passing under the Lakeshore Drive bridge through a shallow, sometimes silted channel. Boaters consistently warn that pontoons and deeper-draft boats can't make it out easily — it's a solid put-in for fishing boats, kayaks, and panfishing the bayou, but not the spot for a big rig. The bayou east of the bridge is posted slow-no-wake.
Concrete Ramp, Two Docks
A free, donation-box launch with a concrete ramp and two docks, on the south side of the South Bayou off N. Lakeshore Drive (across from Waterside Resort).
Small, Rough Lot
The gravel parking lot is on the small side and gets potholed. The township has paving and dock upgrades on its long-range plan, along with a planned barrier-free walkway and fishing pier.
Tidy Little Park
A playground with a sandbox, picnic tables, grills, benches, and a year-round porta-potty that regulars appreciate.
Year-Round
Plowed in winter as a four-season access point. Lower Hamlin holds largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, crappie, and bluegill.
