Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Lot Fills Fast
Five trailer spots is all you get. On summer weekends, the lot can be full by 9 AM. If you're planning a Saturday trip, get there early or you'll be parking creative on the grass shoulder.
Single Lane Patience
One lane means you're waiting if someone ahead of you is slow on the trailer. Not a huge deal on weekdays, but holiday weekends with the campground full can turn a five-minute launch into a twenty-minute ordeal.
Small Lake, Small Boats
Hillsview Lake is modest in size — this is a spot for jon boats, canoes, and small bass boats. Don't bother dragging anything over 18 feet out here. The lake rewards a quiet approach anyway.
Campground Traffic
The campground next door brings steady foot traffic to the launch area, especially families with kids swimming near the ramp. Mid-afternoon on warm days is the worst for congestion — try early morning for a clean launch and retrieve.
Winter Access Doable
The road in stays passable through winter, so ice fishing access is legit. Bring a truck with decent tires though — the last stretch can get slick after a freeze-thaw cycle and they're not in a hurry to plow it.
