Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow Lake Warning
Jehnsen is a pretty shallow lake overall, so watch your prop in areas away from the main channel. Bass and pike stack up in ambush spots all over, but you'll find yourself trimming up more than you'd expect. Keep it slow.
Tight Parking Situation
Only 8 trailer spots, and on a summer Saturday they fill fast. If you roll in after 9 AM on a nice weekend, you might be out of luck. Weekdays are a completely different story — you'll practically have the lake to yourself.
Neighbor Encroachment
The property to the east off Cherokee Lane has a history of trespass onto the launch area. Don't be surprised if it feels like someone's backyard is creeping into the access. Stay on the public side and you'll be fine.
Low-Key Gem
This is one of those quiet Mecosta County lakes where you won't get buzzed by jet skis every five minutes. Pontoons and small boats cruise around, but it stays mellow. If you're sick of the circus at Canadian Lakes or Mecosta Lake, this is your antidote.
Single Lane, No Drama
One lane, so courtesy matters — have your boat prepped before you back down. The ramp works fine for small fishing boats and kayaks, but I wouldn't try to launch anything over 18 feet here. It's a small-lake setup through and through.
