Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Chain Access Hub
This is your gateway to the Martiny Chain of Lakes — some folks call it the Michigan Everglades. Once you're on Lower Evans, you can cruise the entire chain without portaging. That alone makes this launch worth knowing about.
Single Lane Patience
One lane means you're waiting if someone ahead of you is fumbling with their trailer. Weekend mornings in summer can get a little backed up, but 25 trailer spots means parking itself isn't usually the issue.
Vault Toilet Gamble
There's a vault toilet on-site, but it gets vandalized regularly enough that you can't count on it being in usable shape. Plan accordingly before you make the drive out.
Shallow Approach
The water near the ramp can run shallow, especially by late summer. If you're running anything with a deeper draft, check the depth at the end of the ramp before committing. Smaller boats and kayaks won't have any trouble.
Old-School Rural Launch
This site's been public access since the early 1950s and it feels like it. Don't expect anything fancy — no courtesy dock, no frills. But the scenery is gorgeous and the fishing is solid, which is really why you're here.
