Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Parking Is Tight
Six trailer spots and some widened road shoulder — that's it. On a summer weekend morning, you might be circling by 7:30 AM. If you're running a smaller rig, you can sometimes squeeze in where others can't, but don't count on it.
Spring Flooding
The ramp area floods in spring when the Menominee is running high. I've seen water up over the pavement enough to make it sketchy for launching. Give it a few weeks after snowmelt before you commit to a trip here.
Shipyard Views
You're launching directly across from the Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard. You'll see LCS hulls and sometimes catch a ship launch if your timing is right. It's genuinely cool, even if you're just there to fish.
Nice Extras For One Lane
For a single-lane city ramp with minimal parking, the fish cleaning station and bathrooms are a pleasant surprise. The bathrooms aren't exactly five-star, but they exist — which is more than you get at a lot of Upper Peninsula launches this size.
Solid Perch Fishing
The river mouth right at the landing holds jumbo perch, especially in fall. You don't even need to launch — people catch fish casting from the ramp area. Worth bringing a rod even if you're just scouting the spot.
