Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Signage Is Terrible
Finding this launch is half the battle. There's almost no signage pointing you to the river access — just a small marker off the main road that doesn't even mention the boat launch. If you don't have GPS coordinates locked in ahead of time, you can easily spend 30 minutes driving around the forest roads and never reach the water.
Very Limited Parking
Four trailer spots is all you get. If even two rigs are already there, you're going to have a tough time maneuvering. This is a one-lane, small-operation launch — think solo kayak trips or a 14-foot jon boat, not your bass rig with a 20-foot trailer.
Remote And Rugged
This is deep woods Upper Peninsula. Cell service is basically nonexistent on AT&T, and the access roads are unpaved forest roads. The river bank near the launch area is steep and muddy in spots, so watch your footing getting gear down to the water. Not the place to go if you want a quick, clean put-in.
Best For Paddlers
The Menominee has some legit rapids in this stretch — kayakers and rafters use this area, and the current can be serious. It's a much better launch point for canoes and kayaks than for trailered boats. If you're looking for a proper power boat ramp on the Menominee, keep looking downstream.
