Tiny Lot, Plan Ahead
Five trailer spots is all you get, and on a summer Saturday they're gone by 9 AM. If it's full, you're out of luck — there's no real overflow area and the road shoulders are narrow. Weekday mornings or early evenings are your best bet.
Single Lane Patience
One lane means you're taking turns launching and loading. It works fine on a quiet Tuesday, but if two or three boats show up at once you'll be waiting. Keep your rig ready to go before you pull up so nobody's idling behind you.
Quiet Lake Gem
Lake Montcalm is a tucked-away, mostly cottage-lined lake that doesn't draw big weekend crowds the way some Mecosta or Newaygo County lakes do. If you want a low-key day on the water without dodging jet skis, this is a solid pick.
After-Dark Activity
There's a small cabin structure near the launch area, and people tend to congregate there after dark. Not necessarily a problem, but if you're pulling your boat out late in the evening, don't be surprised to find company in the parking area.
