Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Small But Functional
One lane and only six trailer spots, so this isn't the place for a Saturday morning rush. Get here early on summer weekends or you'll be parking on the shoulder and hoping for the best.
Ramp Is Solid
The concrete ramp is in good shape and handles pontoon-sized boats without drama. Grade is gentle enough that you're not white-knuckling it on the back-down, even with a bigger rig.
Winter Access Bonus
The lake freezes solid and you can walk right out from the launch area. Popular spot for ice fishing access in January and February — the parking area stays passable through winter.
Quiet Lake Vibe
Little Whitefish doesn't get the pressure that bigger Montcalm County lakes do. Weekday launches you'll likely have the ramp entirely to yourself. It's run by Newaygo State Park so it stays surprisingly well maintained for how off-the-radar it is — vault toilet on-site and the grounds are kept clean.
