Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Narrow Ramp, Watch Trees
The single lane is tight — if you're running anything wider than 8 feet, you'll feel it. There's also a tree with branches hanging over the ramp that can scrape your T-top or bimini. Hug the far side if you can.
Redone and Solid
DNR overhauled this launch a few years back — new dock, new vault toilet, paved parking. It's honestly one of the nicer public access sites in Montcalm County now. A big upgrade from what it used to be.
Morning Is Prime Time
With only 11 trailer spots, this lot fills fast on summer weekends. Get here early morning and you'll have your pick of parking and calmer water. By mid-morning on a Saturday, you might be out of luck.
Mucky Bottom, Zebra Mussels
The water is clear, but the lakebed is soft muck and thick with weeds, especially later in summer. Zebra mussels are all over — rinse your gear thoroughly before heading to another lake. No real beach or swimming area here.
Good Panfish Water
Solid fishery for bluegill, crappie, and perch, plus some decent largemouth and pike. The dock off the launch is a perfectly fine spot to drop a line if you don't feel like trailering in.
