Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Ramp, Tiny Lot
One lane and only 12 trailer spots — this fills fast on summer weekends, especially holiday stretches like Labor Day. If you're planning a Saturday launch, get there early morning or you'll be circling. Kayaks and small boats are the sweet spot here.
Crystal Clear Water
The lake lives up to its name — sandy bottom visible down to 30 feet in places, with depths reaching around 60 feet. Gorgeous for swimming and fishing, but that clarity means boat traffic is very visible to fish. Early morning bites are your best bet.
Remote Location
This park is pretty far from any real town, so fuel up and stock up before you head in. No quick runs to a gas station or bait shop. The tradeoff is a quieter, less pressured lake than what you'd find closer to Kalamazoo or South Haven.
ORV Traffic Nearby
The park sits right at a trailhead for ORV and ATV trails, so expect trailer congestion in the parking areas and sandy conditions on the roads. On busy weekends the mix of boat trailers and ORV rigs competing for space gets tight around that small lot.
Trails Poorly Marked
If you're planning to hike to scout the shoreline or find alternate access points, the trails are not well signed and some are overgrown. Ticks and poison ivy are thick along the paths from late spring through fall, so stick to the main routes.
