Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Real Ramp
Despite being listed as a launch, there's no paved ramp or designated lanes here. If you're putting in anything bigger than a kayak or small jon boat, head to the marina launch instead — trying to muscle a trailer down here will just frustrate you.
Rocky Entry
The shoreline is loaded with rocks right at the waterline. You need to wade out a bit before it clears up, so plan on getting your feet wet. Not ideal for a clean drop, but manageable for hand-launch stuff like canoes and kayaks.
No Trailer Parking
There are zero designated trailer spots, so don't show up towing a boat expecting to park. This is really a carry-in access point, not a ramp in any traditional sense.
Walleye At The Island
If you do get out on the water, the walleye bite is the main game here. They stack up near the end of the island — drop walleye rigs specifically or you'll spend hours catching nothing. Decent perch in the 10-inch range too, but don't bother with bass gear.
Sandbar Scene
There's a popular sandbar that draws a party crowd on summer weekends. If you're looking for quiet water, go early morning or midweek. By Saturday afternoon it turns into a floating social hour with pontoons rafted up everywhere.
