Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tight Turnaround
The main road sits right on top of you, so backing in with anything big takes some finesse. I've launched a 22-foot pontoon here, and it works, but you'll want to take your time on the approach. Not the place to rush if someone's behind you.
Trailer Overhang
There's basically one real trailer spot, and it's short. Your trailer will stick out into the driveway, which can block things up if someone else is trying to launch or load. Get in, get off the ramp, and be ready to improvise on parking.
Two Slips Help
Despite the tight lot, the ramp itself has two launch slips, which keeps things moving on busier days. Single dock for staging. It's a surprisingly efficient setup once you're past the parking headache.
Rec Passport Required
This is a state-administered launch through Clear Lake State Park, so you need a valid Michigan Recreation Passport. Restroom and main parking are across the street — easy to miss if it's your first time.
Quiet Little Lake
Sage Lake is a pleasant spot, but don't come expecting trophy fishing. It's more of a relaxed paddle-and-cruise lake. The launch is well kept and the locals are friendly — just temper your expectations on what's swimming below you.
