Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Ramp, Tiny Lot
One lane and three trailer spots — that's it. Fine for a 14-foot jon boat or a kayak, but if someone's already parked with a trailer you might be waiting or improvising. This isn't a place you bring a big rig.
Weedy Bottom
The lake gets thick with weeds, especially mid-summer on. Great cover for the fish, annoying for your prop. If you're running a trolling motor, expect to clear it regularly.
Solid Panfish Lake
Rock bass, perch, bluegill, and some decent smallmouth — it's a reliable panfish spot that doesn't get hammered. The low traffic means fish aren't pressured the way they are on the bigger Newaygo County lakes.
Watch for Snappers at Dusk
The lake has a healthy population of large snapping turtles, and they get active toward evening. Keep stringers short and close if you're shore fishing late, and don't leave catch dangling off the dock.
Quiet Over Convenient
This is a small, laid-back lake where locals outnumber visitors ten to one. No swimming beach, no amenities — just a peaceful put-in. If you want elbow room and don't mind the limited parking, it beats fighting crowds at Hardy Dam Pond or any of the busier Newaygo launches.
