Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Pothole Gauntlet
The park road from the entrance all the way through to the launch is beat up — potholes everywhere. If you're towing anything heavy, take it slow or you'll feel every single one. It's not a long drive in, but it's rough enough to be annoying.
Tight Parking Window
Only 12 trailer spots at a single-lane ramp, and this park gets packed in summer. On weekends, get there early morning or plan to wait. The campground crowd and beach-goers compete for the same road space, and the narrow park roads make maneuvering a trailer a real chore if things get congested.
Quiet Water Paradise
Big Seven Lake is small and calm — perfect for kayaks, paddleboards, and smaller boats. No big wake machines tearing around. If you want peaceful paddling with turtles and birds, this is one of the best spots in Oakland County for it.
Watch For Weed Growth
The park has been actively reintroducing native aquatic plants, so large sections of the lake have thick vegetation below the surface. Great for bass fishing, but if you're running a trolling motor, expect to clear weeds frequently. Stick to the open channels around the island.
Boat Wash Heads-Up
DNR sets up a mobile boat wash station here for about two weeks every summer. It's a minor delay at the launch but worth knowing about so you're not surprised when someone flags you down before you back in.
