Weekend Law Enforcement
Expect a heavy police presence on the water every weekend, especially Saturdays. They're checking for registration, fire extinguishers, and capacity — have your stuff squared away before you launch.
Parking Holds Up Well
85 trailer spots across a big paved lot means you can roll in at 8 or 9 AM on a Saturday and still find a spot without circling. Holiday weekends are the exception — show up by 7:30 or you're gambling.
Recreation Passport Required
This is a state park launch, so you need a valid Michigan Recreation Passport on your vehicle. No day-use fee booth to buy one on the spot — if you don't have it on your plate registration, you could get ticketed.
Post-Labor Day Hours
After Labor Day the gate doesn't open until 8 AM, which kills any early-morning fall bite plans. On the flip side, the lake clears out dramatically and you'll practically have the ramp to yourself on weekdays.
Clean Four-Lane Ramp
Four concrete lanes in solid shape with a gentle grade — you can get a 22-footer in and out without drama. The ramp stays relatively clean through most of the season, and the modern restroom in the day-use area to the south saves you from any emergencies between trips.
