Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Not A Real Ramp
This is a fishing pier where they pulled off a section of railing so you can slide in a kayak or canoe. Don't even think about trailering a powerboat here — it's hand-launch only despite having a few trailer spots marked. Bring a cart or a buddy to help carry down.
Surprising Depth
The lakes look small and pond-like from shore, but they drop off fast — 20 to 50+ feet deep, nearly straight down just a few feet out. It's a little unnerving on a kayak fish finder the first time. No gradual wading shelf at all.
Four Lakes, One Launch
East Graham connects to several other lakes through narrow channels you can paddle through. It's like having a whole chain to explore from one put-in. The cuts between lakes are tight — perfect for a kayak or canoe, impossible for anything wider.
Summer Kayak Crowds
This used to be a well-kept secret, but kayak traffic has blown up in recent years. Weekend mornings in summer, those 5 parking spots fill almost immediately. Weekday mornings are still peaceful and you'll likely have the whole chain to yourself.
Water Quality Concerns
There's visible foam on the surface at times — PFAS contamination has been flagged here. You'll also occasionally see an oily sheen near the launch area. Worth knowing before you're splashing around loading and unloading gear.
