Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Parking Fills Fast
Only 15 trailer spots, and on summer weekends the lot fills up by mid-morning. Once it's full, the DNR shuts it down — no launching, period. If you're planning a Saturday trip, get there by 7 AM or have a backup plan.
Tight For Big Rigs
Two lanes and a decent ramp surface, but the lot is cramped for longer trailers. Anything over 20 feet and you'll be doing a lot of maneuvering. The tie-down area is small too, so load up and clear out quickly to keep things moving.
Road Approach Is Tricky
The entrance is right off a busy road with limited room to slow down and turn in. If you're towing, you'll want to signal early and commit — traffic behind you won't be patient. Coming from the east gives you a slightly better angle.
Kayak-Friendly Shore
There's a shallow sandy area right next to the ramp that's perfect for launching kayaks and canoes without fighting trailer traffic. On weekdays especially, paddle craft have plenty of room and parking is rarely an issue.
Worth The Hassle
Maceday is 234 acres of deep, clean water with outstanding panfish — big perch and fat crappie, plus solid bass. For an Oakland County suburban lake, the fishing quality punches way above its weight. Just plan around the parking limitations and you'll have a great day.
