Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow & Weedy
The lake is silting in and getting overgrown, especially later in summer. If you're running anything with a lower unit deeper than a couple feet, pay attention near the ramp and along the shoreline. Kayaks and small jonboats are the sweet spot here.
Truly Secluded
This place is about as quiet as it gets in Oakland County. Don't be surprised if you're the only one on the water — it's common. Six trailer spots sounds tight, but you'll almost never compete for them.
Icy Entrance Drive
That entrance road gets slick in winter and early spring. It's shaded enough that ice lingers well after it's melted everywhere else. If you're heading out for early season panfish, take it slow on the way in.
Field Trial Traffic
The area doubles as a field trial zone for Highland State Rec Area, so on certain weekends you'll see dog handlers and vehicles parked along the road. It doesn't really affect the launch itself, but the extra activity can spook fish near shore.
One Lane, No Rush
Single lane ramp with a basic surface — fine for a 14-foot aluminum but I wouldn't try muscling a big bass boat down there. The approach is narrow and there's no real turnaround if someone's blocking you, though that almost never happens.
