Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Weekend Parking Nightmare
Only 4 official trailer spots, and enforcement will ticket you for parking outside of them. On a nice summer Saturday, the lot fills by mid-morning — I've literally been turned away and had to come back on a Monday. Weekday mornings are your best bet.
Steep Concrete Ramp
The ramp is all concrete and noticeably steep. If you're launching an aluminum boat, that grade and rough surface can really beat up your hull. Works fine for fiberglass boats on trailers, but if you're sliding something off a truck bed, you'll feel every inch of it.
Gravel Washouts After Rain
The gravel areas around the ramp wash out during heavy rains. After a big storm, check the approach before you commit — ruts can develop fast and catch a low trailer off guard.
Tight Quarters at the Lanes
There are multiple launch lanes, but the overall width feels cramped when three or four rigs are trying to work simultaneously. Add in people who take their time on the docks and it backs up fast, especially on summer weekends. A temporary tie-off spot would solve half the congestion, but there isn't one — so you're juggling your boat and your trailer at the same time.
Crystal Lake Itself
The lake is gorgeous and worth the hassle. Sandy bottom, clear water, and plenty of room to spread out once you're on it. Fishing can surprise you — I've hooked up on the very first cast. It's the kind of lake where you forget about the parking chaos the second you clear the dock.
