Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Parking Fills Fast
Five trailer spots on paper, but realistically you're fitting three trucks with trailers before it gets tight. On summer weekends, if you're not there by 8 AM, you might be out of luck. There's no real overflow area nearby.
Ramp Works Fine
Single lane, nothing fancy, but the ramp itself is easy to use. You can get a small to mid-size boat in and out without drama. Don't try bringing anything over 18 feet — the turnaround space just isn't there.
Rec Pass Required
This is inside Rifle River State Recreation Area, so you'll need a Michigan Recreation Passport on your vehicle. Easy to forget if you're just running over for a quick trip.
Quiet Little Gem
George Lake is small and low-traffic compared to the bigger lakes in Ogemaw County. Good bass and pike fishing without the jet ski chaos. If you want solitude over amenities, this is the spot — just plan around that tiny parking lot.
