Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Kayak-Friendly Launch
This ramp is really best suited for kayaks, canoes, and small cartoppers. You can get a jon boat in, but anything bigger and you're going to have a tight time with just one lane and a compact staging area.
Parking Fills Fast
Only 10 trailer spots, and on a summer Saturday you might find them spoken for by mid-morning. It's a small lake inside the Rifle River Recreation Area, so there's not much overflow — if the lot's full, you're out of luck.
Crystal Clear Water
Grousehaven has remarkably clear water, which is great for sight-fishing but also means the fish can see you coming. Early morning and overcast days produce better than bright afternoons.
State Rec Area Perks
Being inside Rifle River State Recreation Area means you'll need a Recreation Passport on your vehicle to get in. The upside is the area is well-maintained, the surrounding trails are worth exploring, and the lake never gets the chaos you'd see at nearby public launches on the Rifle River.
