It's a gravel launch, not concrete, so it holds up okay but can get soft and rutted after heavy rain. Fine for small to mid-size boats — I wouldn't try dragging anything over 18 feet through here.
Parking Fills Fast
Eight trailer spots disappear quickly on summer weekends, especially Saturday mornings. There's no real overflow area, so if you're not there by 8 AM on a nice day, you might be improvising along the shoulder.
Bathroom But Bring Bags
There's a vault toilet on site, which is a nice bonus for a launch this size. Fair warning — people treat it like a trash can, so don't expect it to be pristine.

Hit this on a Tuesday or Wednesday and you'll practically have Rifle Lake to yourself. Single lane means any backup on weekends turns into a wait, but midweek the whole experience is smooth — easy on, easy off, no drama.
Rec Area Perks
Being inside Rifle River State Recreation Area means you'll need a vehicle pass, but the trade-off is a well-maintained access road and a lake that doesn't get hammered by heavy traffic like some of the bigger public launches in Ogemaw County.
