Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Real Ramp
There's no improved ramp here — just a carry-down access point. You're sliding canoes, kayaks, or small inflatables off the bank. Don't show up expecting to back a trailer in.
Parking Is Brutal
Two trailer spots on paper, but in practice people park wherever they can squeeze in. Summer weekends you'll end up on the road shoulder with your truck sticking out. Get there early or be prepared to get creative.
River Runs Rough
The Rifle downstream from here is loaded with downed trees and exposed rocks, especially in low water. Late summer the river drops enough that even tubes and kayaks are grinding over boulders. Expect to get out and drag in spots.
Steelhead Honey Hole
This is a legit steelhead access point during the spring and fall runs, which is why you'll see it packed despite the rough setup. Locals fish the pools right near the put-in. If you're here for that, it's worth the hassle.
Pack It Out
Trash tends to pile up here — tangled fishing line on downed trees, food wrappers along the bank. It's a beautiful stretch of river that gets treated like a dump by some folks. Bring a bag and do your part.
