Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Dock Storage
There's no public dock here, so you can't leave your boat in the water overnight. If you're camping at the state park, plan on trailering in and out each day — it's a hassle but that's the deal.
Night Loading Blind Spot
There's zero lighting at the ramp. If you're chasing walleye into the evening or running early morning trips, bring a good headlamp and have your trailer lights dialed in. Backing down in the dark here is genuinely tricky.
Parking Rarely an Issue
26 trailer spots for a two-lane ramp on the east shore — you'd have to hit a holiday weekend to feel squeezed. Most of the tourist traffic gravitates to the west shore near the state park, so this side stays quieter.
Big Lake, Solid Launch
This is the largest natural inland lake in the UP, and this ramp is one of the better ways onto it. Two lanes, clean concrete, and a gradual grade that handles most boat sizes without drama. The west shore launches get more traffic, so this is the local's move.
