Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Ramp Planks Watch
The ramp has 1-foot planks that can get slick, especially early morning with dew or after rain. Take it slow backing down — it's a single lane, so if you spin tires you're holding everyone up.
Across The Road
The launch isn't at the campground itself — it's across the paved road at a separate access area. Easy walk, but if you're towing a boat you'll need to pull out of the campground and cross over. Not a big deal, just know it's not lakeside pull-in convenience.
Winter Is A No-Go
The road in doesn't get plowed and the campground is unmaintained through winter. If you're thinking ice fishing with a trailer, forget it — you'd need a sled or ATV to get gear to the lake.
ORV Crowd Factor
This area is a hub for the Evart Motorcycle Trail system, so weekends from May through October bring a lot of ORV traffic. The campground fills fast — if you're just here to fish and launch, come early on weekdays. Saturday mornings the 12 trailer spots can be tight with riders' trucks and trailers mixed in.
Clear Small Lake
Sunrise Lake is a small, clear-water lake that's great for smaller boats and kayaks. Don't bring anything huge — the single lane and limited maneuvering area work fine for 16-18 footers, but you'd be wrestling anything bigger.
