Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Trailer Parking
There are zero designated trailer spots here, so you're using the roadside park lot and hoping for the best. Works fine for a canoe or small johnboat on a weekday, but don't show up on a Saturday morning with a 18-footer expecting a smooth experience.
Shore Fishing Friendly
There's a covered dock that makes this spot shine more as a bank-fishing and shore access point than a true boat launch. If you're hauling a kayak or something you can car-top, this is a relaxing put-in. Anything bigger and you'll feel it.
Mio Pond Access
You're launching into the Mio Pond section of the Au Sable here, so expect slower water and decent perch fishing. The scenery alone is worth the stop even if the fish aren't cooperating — and they can be finicky in this stretch.
Clean And Quiet
Restrooms on site and the park stays surprisingly well maintained for a roadside launch. It's a mellow spot with low traffic most days, which makes it a nice alternative if the bigger Au Sable launches are packed.
