Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Carry-Down Only
There's no ramp here — this is strictly a carry-down launch. Canoes, kayaks, and small inflatables are your options. Don't show up with a trailered boat expecting to get on the water.
Parking Is Tight
Six spots total, and that's it. On summer weekends, especially during canoe marathon season or any organized paddle event, you can easily find it full by mid-morning. No real overflow area nearby.
River Current Factor
The Au Sable has a steady current through this stretch, so getting in is the easy part. Plan your takeout downstream ahead of time — fighting back upstream in a canoe isn't fun.
Quiet Midweek Gem
Hit this spot on a Tuesday or Wednesday and you'll likely have the whole launch to yourself. It's a peaceful put-in for a morning paddle without the circus you get at the more popular Au Sable access points.
